Last week, I made the promise to help Blue and other color personalities who are struggling with producing their weekly post, to shorten the process below 1 hour per week.
Actually, some tricks I’ll share below could allow you to produce and edit a blog post in less than five minutes!
But first, let’s remind ourselves of the purpose and importance of keeping our blog up to date for the whole duration of the 6-month training:
- each individual blog contributes to making the MKMMA community more visible to the world; the positive consequences of this increased visibility are obvious and self-explanatory;
- the weekly post requirement helps the MKMMA student to learn the process of creating a new habit, which is one of the cornerstones of the entire MKMMA program;
- the sequence of posts will leave a visible trace of the individual evolution of the student; re-reading our first posts at the end of the program often give us the true measure of our own progression;
- each of our posts could become an inspiration for other members; writing our weekly post allow other members to comment on it; the set of blog posts and comments create a huge mastermind which enriches the whole MKE community.
Now if you spend more than one hour per week writing your blog post, how could you decrease that time below one hour while keeping its content valuable and interesting for the readers?
- Create the habit of writing down your post ideas in a notebook or record them in your smartphone, so that your material will be ready at writing time;
- Schedule a 1-hour space in your weekly program, and discipline yourself to write and publish your post within that limited timeframe (if you are a Blue, that will imply to let go of your post being “perfect”: hit that “Publish” button once your time is elapsed, whatsoever!)
- if your time is very short this week, feature the blog of another member that inspired you and say in 1 or 2 lines what or why inspiration came to you from that post;
- learn the “Red style” and list the facts of your week, preferably with some feeling associated, and without further comments or explanations;
- learn and practice the writing skill of “writing what you mean, no more, no less”;
- only focus on what you have learned or experienced thanks to the MKE program this week; if nothing special happened, just say it: “Nothing special this week, I continued my sit & my readings, practicing my Franklin makeover (8 observations of “courage” this week) and my mental diet (hard to pass the 24 hour mark this week, still in positive progression with respect to last week). I unexpectedly forgot my gratitudes from Monday to Wednesday (I was traveling) but I started again today!“
I hope this will help, leave us a comment if you found other ways to consolidate your blog post writing habit!
Thanks very much! Sometimes we just need help staying on track and you put it perfectly!
Just what I needed!
Thank you for your feedback Marilyn, you made me happy to know that I could help!
Excellent article filled to the brim with value! Thank you so much for this! As a blue I especially appreciated the admonition to just hit publish! 😉 A tip that I use is to think of a book, podcast or video that I’ve consumed that inspired me and share why, or even a quote that resonated with me. Also, at the very beginning of the class we were told there is not a minimum word count required, so if all you’ve got in you some week is a sentence (or even a word!), publish it and move on! You’ve got this!! 🙂
Absolutely Laura, even one word is enough if it expresses what we experienced during the week! Thank you for your feedback!
Hi Luc,
Good stuff! Just shared it with my tribe.
Luc,
I have not had the opportunity to read your blog in this process and was brought here by a comment in the Alliance area. I love the conciseness of your blog post and content. Blogging has been one of my biggest struggles and I have not missed one deadline. In the beginning, it would take me 5 or more hours to finish a small post. After doing my day of silence, something happened and the words are flowing. I will take your advice in the coming weeks to continue to improve the process! Thanks.
Congratulations Pam for your persistence, 5 hours are indeed a big investment for a post and I am happy to see that you begin to collect the dividends of your continuous efforts… Yes, let your words flow as they will then best reflect the light which is shining in you, that’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing your experience!
