“I will command, and I will obey my own command.”
This statement comes from Scroll IX of Og Mandino’s Greatest Salesman in the World, and reminds me an interview of the great French singer Charles Aznavour.
He said: “I’m a dictator of myself: I give myself an order, and then I force myself to execute it.”
His career is second to none, still not finished at 90+ years old. He has a great family life and has influenced more artists in his profession that anyone else.
I like his songs, and I love his character. He is a model of discipline and competence, and Og Mandino’s above sentence has reminded me the importance of building discipline on a daily basis in my life.
Because “Obeying my own commands” is only possible if the subconscious mind has been properly prepared, since all our decisions and actions are triggered from there, as we quickly learn in the Master Key Experience training program.
But how could we install the right programs in our subconscious mind? The only known way is through habits and discipline.
For example, I’m right now focused on creating the habit of giving myself at least 6 hours of sleep per night – replacing the “no so good habit” to stay awake until 2 or 3am and getting out of bed again around 7am.
This is part of a larger program that takes care of my body and physical health, with regular workouts, healthy food, new sleeping habits and daily body cares which take an average of 20-30 minutes per day.
I used to believe that so much time to take care of my body was a waste of time, but today I feel so happy and energized when I do this, that I started to monitor the time I’m saving every day by being more efficient in all my activities, including the pure mental activities.
Shall I then become a dictator of myself? Well, so far, the tools I’ve got from the Master Key Experience allow me to get the same results while staying kind to myself.
My soul loves it!
