The Master Key Experience (MKE) starts again in September!
This experience is bringing me so many blessings in my daily life that being in a state of gratitude is gradually becoming a habit!
I hit a summit this last week, as it is school holiday period for the kids, and I spent the whole week with five of my grand children (two to seven years old), visiting, playing, telling stories while their parents were going about their business.
Yes, living and interacting during five full days with kids full of energy is a blessing, because they still express themselves much more through their heart and soul than their personality.
They are also an excellent mirror of our own behaviors and personality traits, especially if they are our own children or grand-children…
For example, let me tell you a short story, as it could possibly inspire you as much as I have been inspired myself…
Everybody who has raised or worked with children know that they are formidable sellers!
Now, if you take five children TOGETHER who want the same thing from you and decide to work in team, forget about it, you just don’t have a chance!
That’s why every morning, when the team of my five grand children was formed, and after an uneven fight, I was cleverly driven to agree giving them some candy.
Hopefully, as the week went by, my negociation skills improved, and I could progressively find a deal for smaller quantities of these sugared-soured-colored candies, and even avoid another fight about them in the afternoon!
It is in the morning of the fifth and last day that I got the opportunity to reconnect with one of my greatest MKE discoveries.
The negotiation between me and the coalition of my five grand-children had started as usual after the first collective activity of the morning (usually a story read or invented by me), and it had ended up with one bag of 10 little candies (different shapes, colors and tastes) for each and for the whole day.
As usual, the two years old had finished her bag before the end of the bag distribution, and her five years old twin sisters had eaten theirs in less than 15 minutes.
On the other hand, I noticed that their 6 and 7 years old cousins had still their entire bags untouched while we were preparing for the big activity of the day (a visit to the Atomium, the Brussels symbol monument).
That’s when I got the idea to make a proposal to both of them: they could eat their candies whenever they wanted during the day, but if they were able to NOT eat any of them until 5pm (the time at which their parents come back to bring them home), THEY WOULD RECEIVE ANOTHER BAG OF 10 CANDIES on top of the first one!
They were actually put in a situation where they could experiment delayed gratification, a very difficult challenge for every child…and also for most adults!
I had learned during the MKE that a scientific experiment had proven that children who were able to delay their gratification had the best chances to live a successful life.
But resisting the temptation to touch any of these delightful candies for more than 8 hours was really hard for both of them, and that’s why I was very happy when they finally won their challenge at 5pm!
They had proven to themselves that they had a strong character, and even better (although they don’t know it yet) they set the ground for living a successful life…
Watch for the next announcement of the MKE and go for it because it can change your life too and also…the life of your children and grand-children 🙂
