This post will be short.
Because I am busy all week to discover all the kindness I can find in every person, object and situation of my daily life.
I decided for this to apply Jason’s method (see post of Week 15) to kindness: I take something I am currently working or playing with, then I “battleship” it in search for kindness.
And it works!
For example, the fountain pen I am using right now to write this post.
I LOVE the feeling of writing with a fountain pen, especially a beautiful one.
Mine is red with a shining golden pen and a gold trim on its pen cap. I just love it!
It is obvious that the people who have designed this object were looking for beauty.
They were most probably imagining the irresistible attraction of their future clients for their beautifully crafted fountain pen.
People who care about beauty MUST have kindness in them, by law.
And what about the reseller, who showcased the fountain pen in his store front? Same thing!
I remember very well when I bought my red fountain pen.
Up to then, I only had black ones, because most high quality fountain pens, in all prestigious brands, are black, except for the most expensive ones, which are sometimes in silver or gold.
So, when I saw that beautiful red fountain pen, it was like a diamond shining among a bunch of worthless shards of glass…I felt in love instantly.
Well, I’m getting maybe a little melodramatic here…but you got my point, right?
If you struggle to find kindness around you, start “battleshipping” the people, the objects or the situations of your daily life and look for kindness in them…you will find it everywhere.
Just do it, go, go, go, it’s kindness week!
I love you 😉
What a beautiful blog! I, too, love to write with fountain pens. All the kindnesses you listed, of which there are many more, I am sure, were an enlightenment. I have been grateful fof my pen, but taking my observation to the next level and digging deep, there are almost countless kindnesses for which to be grateful. Thank you for share your insight!
Thank you for your kind feedback Louise! Yes you are right, kindnesses become countless when we apply the “battleship” approach to anything valuable…Let us have a big, kind thought for Jason Houser who inspired us with this…And also for Davene who shared his story on the webcast…And for Mark who interviewed Jason…And…well, I’ll stop here, thoughts of kindness are countless 🙂
